The filter presses of series “630” are specifically designed for the filtration of medium quantities of sludge, in various industrial sectors. In the marble and granite sectors, this model is used in the gang saw mills with especially high dry residue production. Use table above for specifics. The high filtration pressure of up to 6 atm. allows for the optimal reduction of the percentage of humidity remaining in the pressed sludge.

FUNCTIONING

The machine is a filter press with a complete automatic cycle for dehydrating sludge coming from marble and granite gang saws. The filtering system is designed to accumulate sludge in the spaces between contiguous plates which thereafter is pressed one against another by means of an hydraulic cylinder, thereby forming cakes of filtered dehydrated material. The resulting material is remarkably compact, easily moved and stocked. The filter, ,that is normally placed in the treatment system, has been designed to operate automatically, without the need of an operator’s intervention, if only for periodical checks.

The manufacturer, has designed and built the system in compliance with the safety standards of the directives of the European Community. The utilization of high quality materials, the adopted technology and the degree of security obtained, together with builder’s experience, have allowed the manufacturer to obtain a series of machines having high performance and reliability.

DESCRIPTION AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MAIN COMPONENTS

Frame: The structure in steel embodies all the equipments necessary for the filter’s working, and includes two arc welded steel heads connected together with bolts by two tubular elements of adequate dimensions. The mobile head used for the closure of the filter pack, rests on two beams by means of six rollers, each with two bearings and is connected to the hydraulic cylinder’s rod by a special floating flanged coupling.

Hydraulic Cylinder: The filter press is supplied with a double acting hydraulic cylinder for opening and closing the filter pack.

Plates: The plates are made of stamped polypropylene, mounted with roller bearings to allow for the smooth sliding on the filter press frame, and are provided with double discharge pipes in order to control visually the water’s clearness. The
sliding movement of the filter pack and the resulting opening of the filter packs is obtained by means of a big chain.

Filtering Cloths: The plates can be equipped with different kinds of filtering cloths, depending on the characteristics of the sludge to be dehydrated. They are made up of thermo stabilized and calendered polypropylene, complete with a central collar; The cloths are long lasting, depending on the kind of sludge to be dehydrated and also the number of cycles the filter press completes throughout the day.

Water Collecting Conduit: The lateral conduit that collects the filtered water is made of stainless steel, and conduct the water to a stainless steel basin with a “V” shaped overflow plate. The basin is equipped with two sensors for controlling the two speed filter pump.

Hydraulic Station: The hydraulic station controls the main cylinder which opens and closes the filtering pack. The station is made up:

- Electric motor for the operation of the hydraulic pump;

-Heavy duty high pressure hydraulic pump used to draw the mobile head closer or further away from the filter pack and to supply the necessary pressure to completely close the filter pack during the filtering phase;

- Solenoid electro-valve to divert oil flow during the opening and closing of the filter pack;

- Pressure switch to regulate the closing pressure of the filter pack, complete with manometer visualizing the working pressure;

- High pressure valve;

- N°1 Suction filters.

Electric Panel: The electric panel, in compliance with UNI EN60204-1 and UNI EN60439 standards, is equipped with a front panel for protection, and embodies all the automations and breakers for controlling all the programmed operations of the  motors of the filter press; It also contains automations and power devices to control the driving sludge feed pump (with power up to 25 Hp, according to the model) and the sludge mixer.
